Marriage advice for the Wedding day.
Today I get the honor of standing next to one of my best friends since High School and marry the woman that he has being in love with for a long time. As I went to bed I had asked God for advice for this couple, not advice that would make me seem wise, but advice that would be direct from Him and would actually help them in the incredible adventure ahead, He awoke me several hours later with this.
Ephesians 4:15-16
"Instead, we will speak (1)the truth in love, (2)growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. (3)He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, (4)it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love."
- Honesty: Always be transparent with each other, don't assume that the other person understands or knows, be vocal, say it, this will save you a lot of heartache in your marriage. Never use "honesty" to hurt each other, always speak with love and compassion.
- Goal: Like all successful companies or teams you guys need a goal, let that always be Christ. There is a reason He won my heart over, in Him I found, mercy, compassion , acceptance and forgiveness like non other, strive to be like Him to each other and other people.
- Unity: God is an expert at taking polar opposites and making them fit together perfectly, allow you differences to complement each other, not separate you. Above all, know that you are now the same body, one person. What you do to harm the other will in term hurt you, the opposite is also true, what you do to help the other will also help you.
- Guidance: This are uncharted waters for you two, you guys will need a captain, look to Jesus, I am telling you, only He makes great marriages and incredible sex lives.
I hope this advice will help you in your marriage as well my friend, I know it does me. Let me know in the comments below if you have any manly advice for the newlyweds, i'll make sure to pass it along.
