Whats in your pocket?!
When I was about 10 years old my mother taught me that a real man never leaves his home without a wallet, Her reasoning was that as a man it is our responsibility to be prepared to pay for something and even help pay for some pretty lady missing a few bucks to buy her ice cream. OK maybe I added the last part, but guys, never underestimate the power of buying ice cream, that's how I got my wife. Anyhow since that day, I started carrying my wallet every day, This practice started of as a spider man wallet with a few cents in it, and now evolved into my E.D.C or everyday carry.
My E.D.C is a set of tools that I, well... carry with me every day, hence the title This is a practice I believe many men already practice and if you don't, you need to man up. E.D.Cs take many shapes and expand a variety of objects, gadgets and for some people even weapons. Whatever your E.D.C looks like there is a few rules I believe you should follow.
1. It should be made of compact and light items, why are you carrying a hatchet?, put that mug in your car!, do you really want to tote around 5 lb of gear everywhere you go, every day?, yea i did not think so.
2. Your items should be practical, don't carry something you won't use. i.e. unless you are a cyclist, don't carry L wrenches, what? you never know when you need to put together an IKEA chair?, put those away, you look ridiculous.
3. You must be comfortable and experienced using your items, especially if they are any type of weapons.
Do you even know how to hold that pistol?
4. Think worst case scenarios. Can you start a fire, provide light, defend your self? Imagine uncomfortable situations and think of the tools that would make your life easier, build your kit from there.
If you follow this rules you should always be prepared, and better yet you will be the hero of every cookout or event where some genius did not bring some essential tool and you happen to have it in your pocket.

My E.D.C
1. Wallet. Cause my mama told me and it holds my money.
2. Full size load bearing carabiner. Say hi to aircraft grade steel knuckles of justice, attached is a small l.e.d flashlight.
3. Butane lighter. Be it a BBQ or a rainy night stranded in the woods. this puppy sure beats rubbing two sticks together.
4. Chapstick. I have a hot wife that I like to kiss, do I really need another reason?
5. Buck redpoint pocket knife with bottle opener, it's a tool first, a weapon if it really needs to be. Either way a life saver, and it opens my Jarritos.
6. Smart phone, its not in the pic because it took the pic. its a map, compass, notepad camera and survival guide, as long as its charged its worth its weight in gold.
What's your E.D.C?, post it on the comments.
