BG Compact Fix Blade Knife Review

So yesterday was my birthday, as a present I received my very first knife from the Gerber Bear Grylls series. Now, if your train of thought was anything like mine, and if you were in to knives before this recent survival/prepping craze struck americans; Then more than likely you avoided this neon orange devices like the plague.
Lets be honest, I love Bear Grylls, I honor his faith, courage, loyalty to family and how entertaining he is. However, this whole Gerber & Bear team up just seemed like a genius marketing move to sell sub-par knives to people that simply loved Bear and wanted to have something that was connected to him.

Well I was wrong, It turns out that Bear is personally involved in the design of this tools, therefore they are very well thought out, also, its Gerber Knives we are talking about, when have they ever let us down?, well lets get started.

Review:
Right out of the box I was so excited and impressed at the super comfortable feel of the knife, it is well balanced and solid, it is a full tang knife which makes it ideal for emergency situations, last thing you want is your knife snapping in two while splitting some wood.

As you can see by the stats, this knife is quite compact and light, perfect addition for your EDC, another thing that I loved is that the belt clip is reversible, which means that it gives you the option of carrying the blade point up or point down. carrying the knife with point down makes it extremely concealable because with an un tucked shirt the slim knife will be completely covered, if you choose to carry it tip up (as i do) the very tip of the hilt will stick out, it might cause people to wonder what it is, but at least it won't cause panic from an overly sensitive politically correct culture that we sadly live in.

The knife has a small pumble at the bottom of the hilt. You won't be able to hit many nails with it , but in a jam you can smash through your car window (wear gloves bro, no one wants bloody hands). Last but not least the sheath; its made out of medium duty plastic, it honestly feels toyish but I guess it works. It functions with a friction lock that holds the blade very nicely, even when upside down there is no wiggle to be felt, it was kind of tricky to get the blade in at first but with enough practice it should become second nature.

Over all it is a fantastic knife, great for any one that favors fixed blades over folding ones and the notches cut into the steel makes it super comfortable. It is a small knife so if you have big hands you may want to go for something else that would be more comfortable, aside of some improvements on the sheath I have no complaints, I give this Knife 9 out of 10.

I hope this review was helpful, please tell me if I missed anything or if you got any other questions about the knife. Below is a link to the Gerber page where you can purchase the knife.
