Eno Double Nest Hammock Review

Of all the gear I own and have reviewed in the past, this is by far my favorite. I take it with me every time I hike, go to the beach or camp. It is incredibly versatile and useful, and I am sure that you will want to get one yourself.
It is an amazing thing to hit a trail in the beautiful south east region of America. Surrounded by creeks and waterfalls, it is not hard to find yourself in an incredible Eden the moment you place a foot on a trail near Chattanooga, I thought it could not get better; and then, I got an Eno. This amazing piece of gear is constructed out of heavy duty triple stitched seams and quick drying nylon, in other words , it is super light and super durable. I have taken it up and down trails, hung it in my back yard and endured the abuse of a bunch of kids chilling and playing in it. if you are looking for the perfect lounge to chill in once you get to that sweet spot near the water fall, this is it. The quick drying feature has been handy when i hung it over a creek, it dipped a little in to the water which only made the breathable fabric feel that much more amazing that hot day. To get it dry all I had to do is keep it out of the included stuff sack on the hike back to the trail head, by the time we got back to the car it was pretty much dry.

The hammock weighs only 20oz. and its dimensions in the stuff sack come around 4"x 5", this makes it ideal for an evac bag or simply for a backpacking trip, its set up is really easy. The hammock comes with steel carabeiners, but you will have to spend some extra cash on what they call "slap strap pro", these are the rigging sold by eno for their hammocks, they make the hammock a very versatile system since you will be able to strap the hammock to anything you can get these (L x W) 9' 4" x .75" straps around.

the slap straps come in a convenient carrying pouch.

I have taken many naps in this hammock but until recently I had not the opportunity to spend the night in it. The results where mixed, on one hand it was very comfortable , on the other I was definitely exposed, it simply did not have the protection from the elements that a tent provides, even tho I set a backpacking tarp as my roof, the wind still stole most of my body heat. Since it was an open set up, mosquitoes were feasting on me all night long, after spraying bug spray the biting stopped, however, the annoying buzz in and out of my ear did not cease all night. These issues could be resolved with the right equipment, but you will have to pay extra for it, for the entire "one link" sleep system from eno you are looking to drop over $200.00 dollars.

over night setup

This is an amazing product over all, great for a pinch, but I would prefer to sleep in my tent, it is simply warmer and more sheltered. The price tag is high but worth it, the product is worth every penny. awesome for hikers, day trippers and overnight bags. Make sure to get the double nest, simply put the extra space is amazing with one person and you will want the extra space to share with your mate.

Let me know if you have any questions I might have failed to answer or if you have one? let me know what your favorite place to hang it is.
